A reflection on our Reunion ...
There really isn't a way
to repay each of you for the many hours of work that you put into
the recent reunion. There is a powerful connection between the
past, the present and the future. If my past had been different, I
would not be the person I am today, and would not experience
whatever it is the future holds for me. Thank you for the part you
played in bringing me to this point in my life.
I especially want to thank you
for your contribution to the reunion festivities...for making phone calls,
shopping for door prizes, printing directories, maintaining the website and
facing possible rejection when calling people you had not seen in 40 years.
Whatever you did, whether it was planning for food or decorations, carrying
out trash, or keeping up with post-it notes and pieces of paper that passed
through your hands, you helped to make the time special for all of us.
I saw many faces light up at the
mention of someone's name or when someone came into the room for the first
time. I couldn't help but smile all night long as I watched our
cheerleaders trying to keep enthusiasm high, overheard our ball players
bragging on plays, and saw Danny Mays out there doing the "gator" with his
replaced knee. The flirts were still flirting, the singles still cruising,
and couples were still together after almost 40 years of marriage.
What I experienced that weekend
confirmed everything I believe about myself and my memories - Life was good
back then, and it is still good! Though many things have changed, one core
value of our life has not changed - the important of relationships. Good
friends are friends forever! I'm confident that over the next 10 years,
some will get together without a committee to organize it, many will send
notes or emails, or make phone calls. Pictures of grandchildren will be
shared, News will be spread and because of who we are, prayers will be
offered when we hear of troubled times coming to one of our own. Much of
this will happen because of time spent together over one weekend in 2006 -
one reunion that you helped create.
Thank you for your unselfish
actions and for sharing your gifts to bring us together. Our memories of
those two nights will last for a lifetime. I pray that God will bless you
all and keep you safe until we meet again.

From Lynda Deisher ( Page ) ... Were you ever sent to Home Ec. to have the hem let
out on your dress? It had to fall below the middle of the knee.
Miss Hobac ( not sure how to spell her name ) was always checking the
hems when we went to PE or when she'd see you in the hall. Then,
styles changed it to bell bottom pants and mini skirts. Now
they've come back again .. But the long skirts didn't. Guess that
shows the teachers weren't always right when they said " One day you'll
see". Thanks Lynda ... I also remember some of our classmates
being sent home to change their blouses .. nothing too low cut, french
cut, or lacy blouses allowed! Alan
